October 24, 2024 – Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig. In the midst of Typhoon Kristine’s sweeping rains and winds, six delegates of the Philippine Paint and Coatings Association, Inc. (PPCAI) convened at the DKSH Headquarters in BGC today to finalize their preparations for the upcoming Asian Paint Industry Council (APIC) conference. The conference, slated for November 7 to 9 in Bangkok, Thailand, will bring together leading players from across Asia to discuss pressing issues facing the paint and coatings industry.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the PPCAI delegates gathered with unwavering commitment to ensure the Philippines is well-represented at the APIC conference. This critical meeting covered the finalization of the Philippine Paint Industry report, which will present updates on local paint production, environmental concerns, chemical management, and other industry-specific topics. Additionally, delegates reviewed special reports from host associations and discussed updates from the International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC) activities, reflecting the global scope of the industry.
“We must ensure that the Philippines remains a key player in regional discussions, especially when it comes to evolving industry standards and sustainability measures,” said Diosdado Cheng, an APIC veteran, highlighting the importance of the report's inclusion of environmental issues and chemical management, both of which are high on APIC’s agenda.
Founded in October 1995, APIC serves as a forum for open dialogue and exchange among member organizations, allowing them to address issues of common interest within the paint and coatings sector. The conference is expected to cover a wide range of topics, including innovations in paint production, regulatory updates, and sustainable practices that can drive the future of the industry in Asia.
Furthermore, APIC has established a collaboration with the World Coatings Council (WCC), a United Nations-listed NGO working to advocate for the international paint and printing industry. This partnership further solidifies APIC's role as a key voice in global industry conversations.
As Typhoon Kristine continued to rage outside, the resolve of PPCAI’s delegates stood as a testament to their dedication, ensuring that the Philippine paint industry remains at the forefront of regional and global initiatives. The group is set to depart for Bangkok in early November, ready to engage in critical discussions that will shape the future of the industry across Asia. 🖌️🖌️🖌️
